Minister Väyrynen to visit Stockholm – Valko-Venäjä

Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen will make a one-day visit to Stockholm on 8 July. During the visit, he will meet Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson and Minister for European Union Affairs Cecilia Malmström.
The topics of discussion during the meeting with Minister Carlsson will include promotion of development policy cooperation between the EU and the United States during the Swedish EU Presidency. The idea behind the discussions is the initiative of transatlantic partnership for development Väyrynen presented in January 2009, the objective of which is to strengthen the development policy dialogue, coordination and cooperation between the EU and the United States at the political and practical level. The Ministers will also discuss the impact of the economic crisis on development, as well as closer cooperation between the Nordic ministers for development. The talks with Minister for EU Affairs Malmström will focus on, for instance, the Baltic Sea Strategy and the Northern Dimension.
During his visit, Minister Väyrynen will also meet personnel of the Finnish Embassy in Stockholm.
